Dave Streater, music lessons

I offer piano lessons in my home studio in Ithaca, New York.

My teaching approach:
I stress sound production and listening over reading. I encourage improvisation and composition, and believe that students can and should be learning theory right from the beginning.
I teach jazz as well as "classical" style.

My education: Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, Cleveland Institute of Music.
Master of Music at SUNY Binghamton, in music composition.

I also hold a Master's degree in Mathematics from Ohio State University, and I am often available for tutoring in calculus or other undergraduate mathematics courses at Cornell. (send e-mail if you live around Ithaca and are interested in classical and/or jazz piano lessons, or math tutoring; send email via the link at top of page)
Ithaca Hours accepted.
I also offer lessons through the Community School of Music and Art, or for non- majors at Cornell Music Department.
