So, now that we "got him", what should we DO with sadam...?....
If the man that they claim to be Hussein is indeed he, what to do with him is definitely a quandary. To murder him would just set a new (bring back an old?) precedent making assassination a standard, "officially approved" tactic of war. What, exactly, is the charge? It's not clear at all that Sadam was connected in any way with, for example, the crashing of the planes into the World Trade Center. He did indeed foment dissent and hatred, but he's got plenty of company in that department! Was he really trying to get "weapons of mass destruction"? Or just saying that he was? Of course, if he can solidly be assigned responsibility for some of the crimes that took place in Iraq including the murder of it's citizens, then it might be argued that the death penalty be called for. That would make things easy. Of course, if, as is likely the case, such connection cannot be found, it will be awfully hard for the, um, ....'winners'.. of the war to admit that, and he will probably be put to death anyway.' We' may, though, if truly sufficient evidence cannot be clearly found, have the unique opportunity to show fairness and let the poor sucker live, setting a precedent that might begin to finally point humankind away from violence and endless eye-for-an-eye retribution. But then, yep; it sure will be hard to come up with what we should do with Sadam!
